WRFC MAINTENANCE DURING LOCKDOWN

Hi all,

Firstly I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during these challenging times. Unfortunately we have no meaningful updates yet for the recommencement of rugby activities, albeit that the Welsh Govt. have today announced that pubs can reopen their outdoor spaces for trade on the 13th of July, we will have to consider whether this is feasible for us as we are in the process of replacing our outdoor decking with a new patio area.

A big thank you to all our sponsors and patrons for their ongoing financial support which is helping enormously with our cash flow when we have no income being generated - this is much appreciated and as soon as we are able, events will be organised to hopefully celebrate a return to normal times.

Our willing team of volunteers have been busy during the lock down and we are extremely grateful for their hard work. A list of the various activities is detailed below -

- New patio to replace the old decking at the clubhouse.

- Parc Dr Owen pitch re seeded.

- Parc Dr Owen changing rooms and roof completely renovated with serving hatch installed.

- Iron hand rails installed at the stand at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn.

- Gate at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn repaired.

- Pitch development to the rear of the stand commenced with a trencher machine purchased and collected from Plymouth (will reduce costs of installing drainage significantly).

A short video is attached illustrating the work that has been carried out and again thank you to our volunteers for their unbelievable efforts over the past three months.

The pitch development behind the stand at Parc Llwyn Ty Gwyn will now have to be funded by ourselves with outside grants unavailable at the present moment. We are therefore approaching local businesses and tradesmen for materials, machinery and labour to complete this project - any help or contributions much appreciated.

As it appears that face masks may well be the norm for certain aspects of normal life I have ordered a supply of Whitland RFC branded masks - further details to follow, but not to be used for bank robberies or other heists !!

If anyone wishes to become involved in any of the projects mentioned, then please contact me. In the meantime stay safe and once again many thanks for your continued support.

Best Wishes,

Paul Kirk
Treasurer Whitland RFC
